obama 50 Lies and Counting

Barak Obama - 50 Lies and Counting: Posted on Political forum.com - Elections and Campaigns.

1.) "Selma Got Me Born" - your parents felt safe enough to have you in 1961 - Selma had no effect on your birth, as Selma didn't occur until 1965.

2.) "Father Was A Goat Herder" - he was a privileged, well educated youth, who went on to work with the socialistic Kenyan Government.

3.) "Father Was A Proud Freedom Fighter" - he was part of one of the most corrupt and violent governments Kenya has ever had

4.) "My Family Has Strong Ties To African Freedom" - your cousin Raila Odinga has created mass violence in attempting to overturn a legitimate election in 2007, in Kenya . It is the first widespread violence in decades.

5.) "My Grandmother Has Always Been A Christian" - she does her daily Salat prayers at 5am according to her own interviews. Not to mention, Christianity wouldn't allow her to have been one of 14 wives to 1 man.

6.) "My Name is African Swahili" - your name is Arabic and Baraka (from which Barack came) means blessed in that language. Hussein is also Arabic and so is Obama.

7.) "I Never Practiced Islam" - you practiced it daily at school, where you were registered as a Muslim and kept that faith for 31 years, until your wife made you change, so you could run for office.

8.) "My School In Indonesia was Christian" - you were registered as Muslim there and got in trouble in Koranic Studies for making silly faces. (check your own book).

9.) "I Was Fluent In Indonesian" - not one teacher says you could speak the language.

10.) "Because I Lived In Indonesia , I Have More Foreign Experience" - you were there from the ages of 6 to 10, and couldn't even speak the language. What did you learn, how to study the Koran and watch cartoons?

11.) "I Am Stronger On Foreign Affairs" - except for Africa (surprise) and the Middle East (bigger surprise), you have never been anywhere else on the planet and thus have NO experience with our closest allies.

12.) "I Blame My Early Drug Use On Ethnic Confusion" - you were quite content in high school to be Barry Obama, no mention of Kenya and no mention of struggle to identify - your classmates said you were just fine...you merely chose to do drugs.

13.)"An Ebony Article Moved Me To Run For Office" - Ebony has yet to find the article you mention in your book. It doesn't, and never did, exist.

14.) "A Life Magazine Article Changed My Outlook On Life" - Life has yet to find the article you mention in your book. It doesn't, and never did, exist.

15.) "I Won't Run On A National Ticket" in '08" - here you are, despite saying, live on TV, that you would not have enough experience by then, and you are all about having experience first.

16.) "Voting Present rather than Yes or No is Common In Illinois" - That is common for YOU, but not many others have 130 "Present" votes which means you wouldn't commit yourself because you didn't want the voters to know the real you and where you stod on the issues!

17.) "Oops, I Misvoted" - only when caught by church groups and democrats, did you beg to change your so-called "misvote".

18.) "I Was A Professor Of Law" - you were only a senior lecturer ON LEAVE.

19.) "I Was A Constitutional Lawyer" - you were only a senior lecturer ON LEAVE.

20.) "Without Me, There Would Be No Ethics Bill" - you didn't write it, introduce it, change it, or create it.

21.) "The Ethics Bill Was Hard To Pass" - it took just 14 days from start to finish.

22.) "I Wrote A Tough Nuclear Bill" - your bill was rejected by your own party for its pandering and lack of all regulation - mainly because of the money you took from your Nuclear Donor, Exelon, from which David Axelrod came.

23.) "I Have Released My State Records" - as of March, 2008, state bills you sponsored or voted for have yet to be released, exposing all the special interests pork hidden within.

24.) "I Took On The Asbestos Altgeld Gardens Mess" - you were part of a large group of people who remedied Altgeld Gardens . You failed to mention anyone else but yourself, in your books.

25.) "My Economics Bill Will Help America" - your 111 economic policies were just combined into a proposal which lost 99-0, and even YOU voted against your own bill.

26.) "I Have Been A Bold Leader In Illinois" - even your own supporters claim to have never seen any BOLD action on your part.

27.) "I Passed 26 Of My Own Bills In One Year" - they were not YOUR bills, but rather handed to you, after their creation by a fellow Senator, to assist you in a future bid for higher office.

28.) "No One Contacted Canada About NAFTA" - the Canadian Government issued the names and a memo of the conversation your campaign had with them.

29.) "I Am Tough On Terrorism" - you missed the Iran Resolution vote on terrorism and your good friend Ali Abunimah supports the destruction of Israel and another friend El Hadi(sp?) was stopped by the Federal Government from collecting and sending donations to the terrorist group Hamas...now he is raising money for you and lists your wife Michelle as a supporter of his and she lists him as one of her friends. Also you and your wife are known co-horts of the man and wife "Weather-Underground" hippie pair who admitted killing people and bombing several federal buildings back in the late sixties or early seventies. The man has written a book saying he and his wife only wish they had done more killings and bombings!

30.) "I Am Not Acting As President Yet" - after the NAFTA Memo, a dead terrorist in the FARC, in Colombia, was found with a letter stating how you and he were working together on getting FARC recognized officially.

31.) "I Didn't Run Ads In Florida" - you allowed national ads to run 8-12 times per day for two weeks - and you still lost.

32.) "I Won Michigan " - no you didn't.

33.) "I won Nevada " - no you did not.

34.) "I Want All Votes To Count" - you said let the delegates decide.

35.) "I Want Americans To Decide" - you prefer caucuses that limit the vote, confuse the voters, force a public vote, and only operate during small windows of time.

36.) "I passed 900 Bills in the State Senate" - you only passed 26, most of which you didn't write yourself.

37.) "My Campaign Was Extorted By A Friend" - that friend is threatening to sue if you do not stop saying this. Obama has stopped saying this.

38.) "I Believe In Fairness, Not Tactics" - you used tactics to eliminate Alice Palmer from running against you.

39.) "I Don't Take PAC Money" - you have taken loads of it.

40.) "I don't Have Lobbyists" - you have over 47 lobbyists, and counting.

41.) "My Campaign Had Nothing To Do With The 1984 Ad" - your own campaign worker made the ad on his Apple in one afternoon.

42.) "My Campaign Never Took Over MySpace" - Tom, who started MySpace issued a warning about this advertising to MySpace clients.

43.) "I Inspire People With My Words" - you inspire people with other people's words.

44.) "I Have Passed Bills In The U.S. Senate" - you have passed A BILL in the U.S. Senate - for Africa , which shows YOUR priorities.

45.) "I Have Always Been Against Iraq " - you weren't in office to vote against it AND you have voted to fund it every single time, unlike Kucinich, who seems to be gutting you, Obama.

46.) "I Have Always Supported Universal Health Care" - your plan leaves all of us working taxpayers to pay for the 15,000,000 who don't have to buy it.

47.) "I Only Found Out About My Investment Conflicts Via Mail" - both companies you site as having sent you letters about this conflict have no record of any such letter ever being created or sent.

48.) "I Am As Patriotic As Anyone" - you won't wear a flag pin and you don't put your hand over your heart during the Anthem... because you have said "you didn't want to offend muslims and others who don't like America "!

49.) "My Wife Didn't Mean What She Said About Pride In Country" - your wife's words follow lock-step in the vein of Wright and Farrahkan, in relation to their contempt and hatred of America .

50.) "Wal-Mart Is A Company I Wouldn't Support" - your wife has received nearly a quarter of a million dollars through Treehouse, which is connected to Wal-Mart.

National Republican Trust PAC Donation Form NOBAMA

Dear Fellow American:

Never before in the history of our nation have we faced such a grave crisis: one of the most radical political figures ever to be nominated by a major party is just minutes away from becoming President of the United States.

That man is Barack Obama.

He promises to change America forever. If elected, he will do just that — but in ways you make not like.

Remember Obama is the most liberal member of the United States Senate.

He received a 100 percent Liberal Rating from the National Journal, making him the most left-wing Senator in Washington — more liberal than even Democratic senators like Ted Kennedy.

If you look at Obama’s record, you will understand just how dangerous this man is.

He even has terrorist friends he won’t denounce. One such man is William Ayers, a leader in the radical terrorist group the Weatherman Underground. The group bombed several government buildings, including the Pentagon, killing civilians and police officers.

In 2001, Ayers said he had no regrets for his actions and wished he could have done more.

The ties between Obama and Ayers are tight. Both served on two non profit boards and they worked closely together. Ayers even hosted a political event at his home for Obama.

Obama has acknowledged he is a friend of Ayers and defends his association by saying he, Obama, was only 8 years old at the time of the Pentagon bombing.

However, Obama has no explanation as to why he is still a friend of Ayers.

Obama has even been endorsed by radicals such as Nation of Islam Leader Louis Farrakhan.

No one can deny hearing about Obama’s relationship with the America-hating Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

There should be little doubt that William Ayers and Louis Farrakhan and the Rev. Jeremiah Wright are rooting for Obama — because he is one of them.

In keeping with such friends, Obama has promised to meet with radical leaders like Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad without “preconditions” even though Ahmadinejad has promised to “wipe Israel off the map” and “destroy” America.

Even radical Hamas terrorists have praised him.

“We like Mr. Obama and we hope he will win the election,” Ahmed Yousef, senior Hamas leader was quoted by ABC radio as saying.

Dangerous Economic Plan

And then there are Obama’s dangerous economic plans for America.

He wants to almost double the capital gains tax. He wants to strip the FICA tax cap off every worker making more than $97,500. He wants to increase the dividend tax. He wants to let the Bush tax cuts expire — giving almost every American family an automatic tax increase.

He has called for more than $800 billion in new spending programs.

He is so radical he even backed driver’s licenses for illegal aliens — even though such a move would help future terrorists move freely in the United States.

He is the most pro-abortion candidate in the history of the country. In 2001, as a state legislator in Illinois, he opposed a bill to protect live born children — children actually born alive! He was the only Illinois senator to speak out against the bill.

He opposes gun rights. He has long history of trying to deny ordinary citizens access to guns.

He originally backed Washington D.C.’s total ban on private handguns — a ban that was overturned. The NRA rated him an “F” on gun positions and says he is one of the most dangerous anti-gun politicians in the nation.

Never forget that Obama is a Harvard educated elitist. To him we Americans are simply “bitter” and he has mocked us saying “[they] cling to their guns and their religion.”

Support the National Republican Trust PAC’s Campaign to Expose ObamaGo Here Now

Exposing the Truth

Hillary Clinton was late in recognizing the threat Obama posed to her campaign, but once she did, her strategy worked.

When Hillary exposed Obama publicly, her campaign saw a major turnaround.

Hillary won every major state primary in the nation with the sole exception of Obama’s home state of Illinois.

And even though Obama was “anointed” by the media and Democratic elites, Hillary went on to win eight of the last 10 Democratic primaries.

How did Obama beat Hillary for the nomination?

Well, using a loophole in Democratic rules, he was able to rack up large majorities in caucus states where he outspent and out organized her.

But in large, contested states she won almost every time. Why? Because when Democrats heard what Obama really stood for, they turned on him.

Make no mistake about it: If we let Americans know the truth about Obama, John McCain can win this election!

But we must employ Hillary Clinton’s strategy.

We must expose Obama for the dangerous radical he is.

You Can Make a Difference

This is why the National Republican Trust Political Action Committee is moving to implement a “shock and awe” strategy against Obama in key states.

We plan to take out powerful television ads, Internet ads and other communications to inform Americans about the dangers posed by Barack Obama.

We plan to target key states that can make a differenceBut we need your help to do it.

As a political action committee, we can accept up to $5,000 in donations per contributor.

A $5,000 donation can help us saturate a key market for a full day with television ads.

But if you can’t do the full amount, even $2,500 or $1,000 or $500Any amount you can afford will help.

Stop and think how much Obama may cost you and your family in new taxes over the next four years alone: $50,000, $75,000, $100,000 or even more.

Your donation today may actually save you much more in the years to come.

Sarah Palin Speech Video | Palin accepts nomination

Sarah Palin Lives up to the hype she gave a very moving Acceptance speech. I have never listened to a speech with this much interest. She hit on all Of the things I Hate about Politics. Its about time to put the the so called elitists in there place and be told America is tired of you looking down your nose to the rest of America. The Hockey mom turned Governor of Alaska has My vote.

Part II

Gov. Palin: Mr. Chairman, delegates, and fellow citizens, I will be honored to accept your nomination for vice president of the United States.

I accept the call to help our nominee for president to serve and defend America. And I accept the challenge of a tough fight in this election against confident opponents at a crucial hour for our country.

And I accept the privilege of serving with a man who has come through much harder missions, and met far graver challenges, and knows how tough fights are won, the next president of the United States, John S. McCain.

It was just a year ago when all the experts in Washington counted out our nominee because he refused to hedge his commitment to the security of the country he loves.
Don't Miss

* Sarah Palin accepts GOP vice presidential nomination
* Republican heavyweights to address delegates
* What Palin needs to say
* Will gender sway women to Palin?

With their usual certitude, they told us that all was lost, there was no hope for this candidate, who said that he would rather lose an election than see his country lose a war. But the pollsters...

The pollsters and the pundits, they overlooked just one thing when they wrote him off. They overlooked the caliber of the man himself, the determination, and resolve, and the sheer guts of Senator John McCain.

The voters knew better, and maybe that's because they realized there's a time for politics and a time for leadership, a time to campaign and a time to put our country first. iReport.com: What do you think of Palin's speech?

Our nominee for president is a true profile in courage, and people like that are hard to come by. He's a man who wore the uniform of his country for 22 years and refused to break faith with those troops in Iraq who now have brought victory within sight.

And as the mother of one of those troops, that is exactly the kind of man I want as commander-in-chief.

I'm just one of many moms who will say an extra prayer each night for our sons and daughters going into harm's way. Our son, Track, is 19. And one week from tomorrow, September 11, he'll deploy to Iraq with the Army infantry in the service of his country.

My nephew, Casey, also enlisted and serves on a carrier in the Persian Gulf.

My family is so proud of both of them and of all the fine men and women serving the country in uniform.

So Track is the eldest of our five children. In our family, it's two boys and three girls in between, my strong and kind- hearted daughters, Bristol, and Willow, and Piper.

And we were so blessed in April. Todd and I welcomed our littlest one into the world, a perfectly beautiful baby boy named Trig.

You know, from the inside, no family ever seems typical, and that's how it is with us. Our family has the same ups and downs as any other, the same challenges and the same joys.

Sometimes even the greatest joys bring challenge. And children with special needs inspire a very, very special love. To the families of special-needs...

To the families of special-needs children all across this country, I have a message for you: For years, you've sought to make America a more welcoming place for your sons and daughters. And I pledge to you that, if we're elected, you will have a friend and advocate in the White House.

And Todd is a story all by himself. He's a lifelong commercial fisherman and a production operator in the oil fields of Alaska's North Slope, and a proud member of the United Steelworkers union. And Todd is a world champion snow machine racer.

Throw in his Yup'ik Eskimo ancestry, and it all makes for quite a package. And we met in high school. And two decades and five children later, he's still my guy.

My mom and dad both worked at the elementary school in our small town. And among the many things I owe them is a simple lesson that I've learned, that this is America, and every woman can walk through every door of opportunity.

And my parents are here tonight.

I am so proud to be the daughter of Chuck and Sally Heath.

Long ago, a young farmer and a haberdasher from Missouri, he followed an unlikely path -- he followed an unlikely path to the vice presidency. And a writer observed, "We grow good people in our small towns, with honesty and sincerity and dignity," and I know just the kind of people that writer had in mind when he praised Harry Truman.

I grew up with those people. They're the ones who do some of the hardest work in America, who grow our food, and run our factories, and fight our wars. They love their country in good times and bad, and they're always proud of America.

I had the privilege of living most of my life in a small town. I was just your average hockey mom and signed up for the PTA.

I love those hockey moms. You know, they say the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull? Lipstick.

So I signed up for the PTA because I wanted to make my kids' public education even better. And when I ran for city council, I didn't need focus groups and voter profiles because I knew those voters, and I knew their families, too.

Before I became governor of the great state of Alaska I was mayor of my hometown. And since our opponents in this presidential election seem to look down on that experience, let me explain to them what the job involved.

I guess -- I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a community organizer, except that you have actual responsibilities.

I might add that, in small towns, we don't quite know what to make of a candidate who lavishes praise on working people when they're listening and then talks about how bitterly they cling to their religion and guns when those people aren't listening.

No, we tend to prefer candidates who don't talk about us one way in Scranton and another way in San Francisco.

As for my running mate, you can be certain that wherever he goes and whoever is listening John McCain is the same man.

Well, I'm not a member of the permanent political establishment. And I've learned quickly these last few days that, if you're not a member in good standing of the Washington elite, then some in the media consider a candidate unqualified for that reason alone.

But -- now, here's a little newsflash. Here's a little newsflash for those reporters and commentators: I'm not going to Washington to seek their good opinion. I'm going to Washington to serve the people of this great country.

Americans expect us to go to Washington for the right reason and not just to mingle with the right people. Politics isn't just a game of clashing parties and competing interests. The right reason is to challenge the status quo, to serve the common good, and to leave this nation better than we found it.

No one expects us all to agree on everything, but we are expected to govern with integrity, and goodwill, and clear convictions, and a servant's heart.

And I pledge to all Americans that I will carry myself in this spirit as vice president of the United States.

This was the spirit that brought me to the governor's office when I took on the old politics as usual in Juneau, when I stood up to the special interests, and the lobbyists, and the Big Oil companies, and the good-old boys.

Suddenly, I realized that sudden and relentless reform never sits well with entrenched interests and power-brokers. That's why true reform is so hard to achieve.

But with the support of the citizens of Alaska, we shook things up. And in short order, we put the government of our state back on the side of the people.

I came to office promising major ethics reform to end the culture of self-dealing. And today, that ethics reform is a law.

While I was at it, I got rid of a few things in the governor's office that I didn't believe our citizens should have to pay for. That luxury jet was over-the-top.

I put it on eBay.

I love to drive myself to work. And I thought we could muddle through without the governor's personal chef, although I got to admit that sometimes my kids sure miss her.

I came to office promising to control spending, by request if possible, but by veto, if necessary.

Senator McCain also -- he promises to use the power of veto in defense of the public interest. And as a chief executive, I can assure you it works.

Our state budget is under control. We have a surplus. And I have protected the taxpayers by vetoing wasteful spending, nearly $500 million in vetoes.

We suspended the state fuel tax and championed reform to end the abuses of earmark spending by Congress. I told the Congress, "Thanks, but no thanks," on that Bridge to Nowhere.

If our state wanted to build a bridge, we were going to build it ourselves.

When oil and gas prices went up dramatically and filled up the state treasury, I sent a large share of that revenue back where it belonged: directly to the people of Alaska.

And despite fierce opposition from oil company lobbyists, who kind of liked things the way that they were, we broke their monopoly on power and resources. As governor, I insisted on competition and basic fairness to end their control of our state and return it to the people.

I fought to bring about the largest private-sector infrastructure project in North American history. And when that deal was struck, we began a nearly $40 billion natural gas pipeline to help lead America to energy independence.

That pipeline, when the last section is laid and its valves are open, will lead America one step farther away from dependence on dangerous foreign powers that do not have our interests at heart.

The stakes for our nation could not be higher. When a hurricane strikes in the Gulf of Mexico, this country should not be so dependent on imported oil that we're forced to draw from our Strategic Petroleum Reserve. And families cannot throw more and more of their paychecks on gas and heating oil.

With Russia wanting to control a vital pipeline in the Caucasus and to divide and intimidate our European allies by using energy as a weapon, we cannot leave ourselves at the mercy of foreign suppliers.

To confront the threat that Iran might seek to cut off nearly a fifth of the world's energy supplies, or that terrorists might strike again at the Abqaiq facility in Saudi Arabia, or that Venezuela might shut off its oil discoveries and its deliveries of that source, Americans, we need to produce more of our own oil and gas. And...

And take it from a gal who knows the North Slope of Alaska: We've got lots of both.

Our opponents say again and again that drilling will not solve all of America's energy problems, as if we didn't know that already.

But the fact that drilling, though, won't solve every problem is no excuse to do nothing at all.

Starting in January, in a McCain-Palin administration, we're going to lay more pipelines, and build more nuclear plants, and create jobs with clean coal, and move forward on solar, wind, geothermal, and other alternative sources. We need...

We need American sources of resources. We need American energy brought to you by American ingenuity and produced by American workers.

And now, I've noticed a pattern with our opponent, and maybe you have, too. We've all heard his dramatic speeches before devoted followers, and there is much to like and admire about our opponent.

But listening to him speak, it's easy to forget that this is a man who has authored two memoirs but not a single major law or even a reform, not even in the State Senate.

This is a man who can give an entire speech about the wars America is fighting and never use the word "victory," except when he's talking about his own campaign.

But when the cloud of rhetoric has passed, when the roar of the crowd fades away, when the stadium lights go out, and those Styrofoam Greek columns are hauled back to some studio lot...

When that happens, what exactly is our opponent's plan? What does he actually seek to accomplish after he's done turning back the waters and healing the planet?

The answer -- the answer is to make government bigger, and take more of your money, and give you more orders from Washington, and to reduce the strength of America in a dangerous world.

America needs more energy; our opponent is against producing it. Victory in Iraq is finally in sight, and he wants to forfeit. Terrorist states are seeking nuclear weapons without delay; he wants to meet them without preconditions.

Al Qaida terrorists still plot to inflict catastrophic harm on America, and he's worried that someone won't read them their rights.

Government is too big; he wants to grow it. Congress spends too much money; he promises more. Taxes are too high, and he wants to raise them. His tax increases are the fine print in his economic plan.

And let me be specific: The Democratic nominee for president supports plans to raise income taxes, and raise payroll taxes, and raise investment income taxes, and raise the death tax, and raise business taxes, and increase the tax burden on the American people by hundreds of billions of dollars.

My sister, Heather, and her husband, they just built a service station that's now open for business, like millions of others who run small businesses. How are they...

How are they going to be better off if taxes go up? Or maybe you are trying to keep your job at a plant in Michigan or in Ohio...

Or you're trying -- you're trying to create jobs from clean coal, from Pennsylvania or West Virginia.

You're trying to keep a small farm in the family right here in Minnesota.

How are you -- how are you going to be better off if our opponent adds a massive tax burden to the American economy?

Here's how I look at the choice Americans face in this election: In politics, there are some candidates who use change to promote their careers, and then there are those, like John McCain, who use their careers to promote change.

They are the ones whose names appear on laws and landmark reforms, not just on buttons and banners or on self-designed presidential seals.

Among politicians, there is the idealism of high-flown speech- making, in which crowds are stirringly summoned to support great things, and then there is the idealism of those leaders, like John McCain, who actually do great things.

They're the ones who are good for more than talk, the ones that we've always been able to count on to serve and to defend America.

Senator McCain's record of actual achievements and reform helps explain why so many special interests, and lobbyists, and comfortable committee chairmen in Congress have fought the prospect of a McCain presidency from the primary election of 2000 to this very day.

Our nominee doesn't run with the Washington herd. He's a man who's there to serve his country and not just his party, a leader who's not looking for a fight, but sure isn't afraid of one, either.

Harry Reid, the majority of the current do-nothing Senate ... he not long ago summed up his feelings about our nominee. He said, quote, "I can't stand John McCain."

Ladies and gentlemen, perhaps no accolade we hear this week is better proof that we've chosen the right man.

Clearly, what the majority leader was driving at is that he can't stand up to John McCain and that is only...

... that's only one more reason to take the maverick out of the Senate, put him in the White House.

My fellow citizens, the American presidency is not supposed to be a journey of personal discovery.

This world of threats and dangers, it's not just a community and it doesn't just need an organizer. And though both Senator Obama and Senator Biden have been going on lately about how they're always, quote, "fighting for you," let us face the matter squarely: There is only one man in this election who has ever really fought for you.

There is only one man in this election who has ever really fought for you in places where winning means survival and defeat means death. And that man is John McCain.

You know, in our day, politicians have readily shared much lesser tales of adversity than the nightmare world, the nightmare world in which this man and others equally brave served and suffered for their country.

And it's a long way from the fear, and pain, and squalor of a six-by-four cell in Hanoi to the Oval Office.

But if Senator McCain is elected president, that is the journey he will have made. It's the journey of an upright and honorable man, the kind of fellow whose name you will find on war memorials in small towns across this great country, only he was among those who came home.

To the most powerful office on Earth, he would bring the compassion that comes from having once been powerless, the wisdom that comes even to the captives by the grace of God, the special confidence of those who have seen evil and have seen how evil is overcome. A fellow...

A fellow prisoner of war, a man named Tom Moe of Lancaster, Ohio...

... Tom Moe recalls looking through a pinhole in his cell door as Lieutenant Commander John McCain was led down the hallway by the guards, day after day.

And the story is told, when McCain shuffled back from torturous interrogations, he would turn towards Moe's door, and he'd flash a grin and a thumbs up, as if to say, "We're going to pull through this."

My fellow Americans, that is the kind of man America needs to see us through the next four years.

For a season, a gifted speaker can inspire with his words. But for a lifetime, John McCain has inspired with his deeds.

If character is the measure in this election, and hope the theme, and change the goal we share, then I ask you to join our cause. Join our cause and help America elect a great man as the next president of the United States.

Thank you, and God bless America. Thank you.

Palin confirms daughters pregnancy

The Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin has announced that her 17-year-old daughter is pregnant, in an announcement intended to knock down rumors by liberal bloggers that Palin faked her own pregnancy to cover up for her child.

Bristol Palin, one of Palin's five children with her husband, Todd, is about five months pregnant and is going to keep the child and marry the father, the Palins said in a statement released by the campaign of Republican presidential candidate John McCain.
By Steve Holland
Monday, 1 September 2008

Bristol Palin made the decision on her own to keep the baby, McCain aides said.

"We have been blessed with five wonderful children who we love with all our heart and mean everything to us," the Palins' statement said.

"Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. As Bristol faces the responsibilities of adulthood, she knows she has our unconditional love and support," the Palins said.

The Palins asked the news media to respect the young couple's privacy.

"Bristol and the young man she will marry are going to realize very quickly the difficulties of raising a child, which is why they will have the love and support of our entire family. We ask the media, respect our daughter and Levi's privacy as has always been the tradition of children of candidates," the statement concluded.

Senior McCain campaign officials said McCain knew of the daughter's pregnancy when he selected Palin last week as his vice presidential running mate, deciding that it did not disqualify the 44-year-old governor in any way.

In the short period since she was announced last Friday, Palin has helped to energize the Republican Party's conservative base, giving the McCain camp fresh energy going into the campaign for the November 4th election against Democrat Barack Obama.

McCain officials said the news of the daughter's pregnancy was being released to rebut what one aide called "mud-slinging and lies" circulating on liberal blog sites.

According to these rumors, Sarah Palin had faked a pregnancy and pretended to have given birth in May to her fifth child, a son named Trig who has Down syndrome. The rumor was that Trig was actually Bristol Palin's child and that Sarah Palin was the grandmother.

A senior McCain campaign official said the McCain camp was appalled that these rumors had not only been spread around liberal blog sites and partisan Democrats, but also were the subject of heightened interest from mainstream news media.

"The despicable rumors that have been spread by liberal blogs, some even with Barack Obama's name in them, is a real anchor around the Democratic ticket, pulling them down in the mud in a way that certainly juxtaposes themselves against their 'campaign of change,'" a senior aide said.

EPN Closing Affiliate Accounts for No Reason

One thing for an affiliate well myself anyways is when you go to bed you shouldn't worry about your affiliate program closing your account for no reason. An affiliate program depends on its affiliates to send traffic the the said site they make a purchase and I would get a commission for some company's that is there business model so they dont have to spend any money on marketing or very little let other people get the word out. eBay is no different they have HAD thousands of hard working affiliates driving traffic to there site eBay. They have had a rocky start since they switched to an inside affiliate program with sales tracking people stood by them and defended eBay
well August 20th some of the same people who defended the eBay Partner Network recieved a email. This email was nicely put. In effect canceling there account with eBay Partner Network for no reason except well here is the response from ebay on there forum do you want to do business with them

I wanted to address all of the board posts regarding the expiration emails that were sent last night.

These actions were part of our continued effort to focus on delivering the highest quality buyer traffic to eBay via affiliate marketing. To that end, we’ve been analyzing our program closely over the last few months. I know there have been a number of requests to provide insight into all of the metrics via which we are evaluating affiliate traffic, but unfortunately there’s an active black hat community that is pretty effective at exploiting these insights so we can’t go into details on them. However, what I can say is that in addition to earnings per click metrics (EPC), we look at a variety of metrics to see how users are behaving when they come to eBay.com – how engaged they are with our site, and whether the affiliate link clicks lead to incremental buying activity. As we’ve done this, we have seen a big discrepancy in how interested and active the traffic is that comes to eBay from different sources.

Our responsibility in the affiliate marketing channel is to allocate our resources to best drive incremental demand to our sellers. To that end, we need to focus on partners who have had the most success in engaging users who become some of our best buyers on eBay. I understand that these actions do have a very real impact on some of our affiliates who have been working with us over the years. For that, I sincerely apologize, but these decisions are made in the best interest of eBay's sellers and the overall health of our affiliate program.

We want to be very clear. Affiliates who received these messages of expiration last night are not being asked to stop sending traffic to us due to fraudulent activity or violations of the terms of service. For those of you who received the message, commissions are not being reversed, and you will be paid for all valid traffic you have sent to us to date, and for the next 7 days.

Sincerely,
Steve

Star Jones files for divorce

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Star Jones, whose elaborate, corporate-sponsored wedding won her the nickname "Bridezilla," has filed for a divorce from her husband of about three years, Al Reynolds, according to media reports.

Celebrity television show "Entertainment Tonight" said Jones issued a statement saying she had filed the papers a month ago.

"The dissolution of a marriage is a difficult time in anyone's life that requires privacy with one's thoughts," Jones said in the statement. "I have committed myself to handling this situation with dignity and grace and look forward to emerging from this period as a stronger and wiser woman."

Jones, 46, and Reynolds, 39, a banker, were married in 2004 in a lavish wedding in which supplies and services were donated by corporate "sponsors" in return for publicity. Tabloid newspapers referred to her as "Bridezilla."

Jones was a co-host the popular daytime talk show "The View," on which a group of women discuss current affairs, for nearly 10 years before being dropped in 2006. In an interview on NBC's "Today" show after the firing she apologized for getting "caught in the euphoria" of her plans.

"I think I used and some would say abused, my celebrity in planning the wedding," she said on "Today." In Wednesday's statement to "Entertainment Tonight," Jones said she "made an error in judgment by inviting the media into the most intimate area of my life."

The divorce papers were filed in New York Supreme Court in Manhattan. A spokesman for Jones had no further comment.

Television Star Jason Beghe Blasts Scientology

Television Star Jason Beghe Blasts Scientology

Star Exits Scientology

Ruggedly handsome actor Jason Beghe was best man at the wedding of "X Files" star David Duchovny (his childhood pal) and actress Tea Leoni. In 1998, he starred as Demi Moore’s love interest in “G.I. Jane.” He’s been featured in numerous TV dramas such as 'Criminal Minds,' 'Numb3rs', and 'CSI.'

In 2005, Beghe appeared in promotional spots for the Church of Scientology.

But now Beghe has escaped the Church after taking courses since 1994. He’s made a video that’s up on YouTube.

This is what he has to say:

“Scientology is destructive and a rip off.”

He also says: “It’s very, very dangerous for your spiritual, psychological, mental, emotional health and evolution. I think it stunts your evolution. If Scientology is real, then something’s f——ed up.”

You can see from the video that Beghe does not mince words. But his refreshing candor about the religion he joined in 1994 should shake the Celebrity Center to its core.

“It ain’t deliverin’ what it’s promised. It sure has not. “

The video is billed as a three-minute teaser to a longer interview with Beghe that’s on its way. But the short video packs a powerful punch. Beghe still uses a lot of Scientology lingo like “OT” and “clear.” Still, it’s quite easy to understand the point he’s making. After 14 years and a tremendous amount of money, he’s finally seen Scientology for what it is.

Beghe has completed so many courses that he’s considered a top Scientologist, or “OT 5”—similar to Tom Cruise, John Travolta and Kirstie Alley. But Beghe reveals: “The further up the bridge the worse you get.”

He adds: “I don’t have an agenda. I’m just trying to help. I have the luxury of having gotten into Scientology and after having been in it, been out. And that’s a perspective that people who are still in and not out do not have.”

Jason Beghe Speaks Out Against Scientology

Stars Align Against Scientology?

Former high-ranking Scientologist Jason Beghe—no Tom Cruise but an actor you might recognize from Numb3rs, CSI: NY, or, God help you, Everwood—is the first in what Xenu TV promises will be a series of celebs railing on Scientology. Says Beghe: "If Scientology is real, then something's fucked up, because it ain't delivering what it's promising, that's for goddamn sure. Let me meet a motherfucking clear. I'm clear. I'm declared clear as a motherfucking bell!"

But the real money's at 2:30, where he does his unofficial Cruise impersonation.

If you are an online shopper, you’ve probably seen the “do you have a coupon code?” box during the checkout process. Most people skip this because they don’t know a code. Smart consumers have discovered how many coupon codes there are and how easy they are to find and use. They’ve also discovered the incredible deals that exist when combining coupons with sale prices and other discounts.

I estimate that 90 percent of the stores you shop at have a coupon, at any given time. For example, BradsDeals.com is currently tracking over 2,300 active coupons for over 800 stores. Taking 30 seconds to grab a coupon code can save you hundreds or thousands of dollars over the course of a year. Here are a few of the best:

* 25 percent off $999 on notebooks at Dell
Enter coupon code L3S0KX1RF42WV1 through 4/16.
* 10 percent off at HomeDepot.com
Enter coupon code APRILSAVINGS31 through 4/14.
* 25 percent off one item at BN.com (Barnes & Noble)
Enter coupon code A8P8N9P through 5/26. Valid for new customers only

Another way to find outstanding deals is to combine a coupon with a sale price. Here are a few top examples of this:

* Dyson DC14 Vacuum $380: This retails for $505 and is on sale at Overstock.com for $439.99. An additional $60 discount is applied through a link on BradsDeals.com, cutting the price to $379.99. $2.95 shipping and no sales tax are an additional savings.
* Time magazine subscription, $11: 28 issues has a cover price of $138.60. Magazines.com has subscriptions for $16. Entering coupon code springmags cuts that price to $11.
* 5-piece Samsonite luggage set $128: This retails for $250. eBags.com has it on sale for $159.99. Entering 20 percent off coupon code MC003 cuts the price to $127.99.

Don’t shop online? You should. In addition to thousands of coupon codes and lower prices, many stores offer free shipping and you’ll also save up to 10 percent by avoiding sales tax (if a company is not physically located in your state, your purchase is sales tax free). Many online stores now offer free return shipping, too. For example, at a shoe store (I like Shoes.com or Shoebuy.com), this allows you to order multiple sizes and only keep the pair that fits.

If you’re concerned about safety, just use a good credit card with strong consumer protections. They will back you up if anything bad happens.

Twenty-six-year-old Texan Crystle Stewart is crowned Miss USA 2008

LAS VEGAS - A 26-year-old entrepreneur from Texas was named Miss USA on Friday, besting 50 other beauty queens for the coveted crown.

Crystle Stewart, of Missouri City, Texas, runs a party-planning and motivational speaking company, as well as modeling professionally. She says she wants to dedicate her life to international philanthropy.

She edged out first runner-up Leah Laviano of Mississippi and Tiffany Andrade of New Jersey.

Miss USA 2007 Rachel Smith relinquished the crown - and the posh New York apartment that comes with it - in a show aired live by NBC with hosts Donny and Marie Osmond from the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip. The network co-owns the parent Miss Universe Organization with Donald Trump.

Smith, a former Miss Tennessee USA, said she was headed to Hollywood.

Contestants from all 50 states and the District of Columbia have been in Las Vegas for nearly three weeks, rehearsing and hyping the 57th annual pageant. After stints in Baltimore and Los Angeles, organizers billed the new venue as a city beloved by the event's international audience.

The pageant tried to showed off its edge, featuring a grinding live rock performance by the band Finger Eleven, music from Rihanna, and contestants in barely there black bikinis and faux-fur coats.

Donny and Marie kept up a steady stream of sibling banter even while swiftly whittling the field.

Donny Osmond told the losers to "put on a poker face" as he sent them home.

"Or use Botox; then it won't move," Marie quipped.

Stewart will compete in the Miss Universe pageant in Vietnam in July. She also becomes a spokeswoman for breast and ovarian cancer awareness and other causes, while traveling to promote the organization.

Miss USA contestants are scored in three categories: swimsuit, evening gown and interview. Miss Alaska USA, Courtney Erin Carroll, was chosen "Miss Photogenic USA" based on voting at the organization's website. The other contestants named Miss Ohio USA, Monica Day, "Miss Congeniality." Unlike the rival Miss America, Miss USA contestants are not asked to perform a talent.

The panel of judges for Friday's pageant included Heather Mills, model and former wife of Paul McCartney; comedian Rob Schneider; Olympic gold-medal swimmer Amanda Beard; and Christian Siriano, winner of Bravo's fashion reality series, "Project Runway."

Miss USA scandals and highlights

Halle Berry, Shanna Moakler, Tara Conner and more!

Kudos to Donald Trump for finding ways to make the Miss USA pageant seem almost relevant again. This year the show (airing tonight on NBC) got a buzz infusion thanks to the selection of Heather Mills as a judge, and (perhaps a little less so) because Donny and Marie Osmond will host. Last year, of course, there was the Tara Conner scandal, which sparked a feud between Trump and Rosie O'Donnell, which helped turn the situation into a national news story.

Throughout the 56-year history of the Miss USA pageant, winners and losers have made it into our newspapers and nightly newscasts, but not being pageant scholars we couldn't remember what those were. So we called Gerdeen Dyer -- Atlanta newspaper reporter, longtime pageant follower and founder of Pageant.com -- to tell us seven Miss USA scandals.

Mr. Dyer is a consummate southern gentleman (or so we gleaned from his delightfully polite e-mail and phone message), and didn't want to dwell on the scandalous stuff. Fair enough, but there's still enough dirt in this list to keep it interesting and prepare you for what Trump might have planned for us this year.

1. "In 1952, Jackie Loughery was crowned the first Miss USA. She set the long tradition of Miss USAs being romantically linked to celebrities. She was later married to singer Guy Mitchell and to actor Jack Webb, two very big stars in the 1950s."

2. "Leona Gage of Maryland was crowned Miss USA 1957, claiming to be 21 and single. The next day it was discovered that she was 18, on her second marriage and the mother of two children. The crown was taken away. She got some public sympathy, but her attempt at a major show business career proved rocky."

3. "From 1985 to 1989, five consecutive Miss USAs -- Laura Elena Martinez-Herring, Christy Fichtner, Michelle Royer, Courtney Gibbs and Gretchen Polhemus -- were from Texas. Nobody claimed the pageant was rigged, but after the third year, the streak came to dominate news coverage of the event. Officials were glad to change the subject in 1990, when Carole Gist became the first black woman to be crowned Miss USA ... and was from Michigan."

4. "Shannon Marketic, Miss USA 1992, sued royals in the oil-rich nation of Brunei in 1997, saying she had been lured there the year before in a scheme to force her into prostitution. For jurisdictional reasons, the case never got to court, and there were different opinions about how much of her story was true. But the suit brought public attention to the fact that Brunei was an international magnet for models and beauty queens looking to make a lot of money fast. (It has cleaned up its act since.)"

5. "In 2001, Halle Berry became the first former finalist at Miss USA to win the Oscar as best actress. She had been first runner-up to Christy Fichtner in the 1986 pageant."

6. "In December 2001, Shanna Moakler became the first former Miss USA to become Playboy's Playmate of the Month. Although she had been known back in 1995 as one of the shyest Miss USAs ever, she shed her shyness in Hollywood."

7. "December 2006 (just weeks before the 2007 pageant) was the all-time scandal month for Miss USA. Tara Conner, the reigning queen, admitted excessive partying, including drug use, underage drinking and staying out late with famous guys. She was rumored to have kissed Miss Teen USA on the lips. She apologized and kept her job. On the heels of that, Miss Nevada USA, Katie Rees, lost her title over photos that showed her engaged in "Girls Gone Wild"-style behavior."

Students Capture Attack on Teacher on Video

the video of the teacher beating is below

Baltimore, Maryland (CNN, WBAL) -- A shocking video of a female student attacking an art teacher and recording the assault on a cell phone at Reginald F. Lewis High School in Baltimore is causing a stir among both the community and the school.

Art teacher Jolita Berry says she was beaten by a female student as others stood and watched last Friday. One student even captured the assault on video with a cell phone.

"It's just frustrating," says Berry, "Too many times has it happened at this school and other schools, and nothing's being done."

Berry says the video later showed up on MySpace.com.

"It's like we're not important," Berry says, "It's like we don't matter."

The art teacher says she asked the student to sit down, and she says a "relentless assault" is what followed.

"I looked over, and her friends were cheering her on," Berry says, "And before I knew it, she hit me in the face."

Teachers later broke up the fight. Berry thought she could turn to her principal for help, but after a little consoling, the art teacher felt like the school was on the side of the student.

"On one hand she [Lewis High School's principal] told me that she was sorry for me that this happened to me," Berry says, "But then she turned right around and told me that telling the student that I was going to defend myself was a 'trigger word.' That I 'triggered' them."

Berry says she and other teachers at her school feel like they are at a loss, feeling the schools they teach in are not safe, they just hope the Baltimore City School System is watching the tape.

"No learning place should be this violent," Berry said.

The chief of Baltimore City school police said he had not been notified about the attack, but would investigate.

Friend testifies Orlewicz talked about killing Dan Sorensen "weeks earler"

Friend testifies Orlewicz talked about killing Sorensen "weeks earler"

By Brad Kadrich

OBSERVER STAFF WRITER

In his opening statement Monday, defense attorney Joseph Niskar told jurors in the trial of Jean Pierre Orlewicz that the death of 26-year-old Daniel Sorensen was an act of self-defense followed by a panicked attempt by a frightened teenager to cover the whole thing up.

But a witness testified Tuesday the idea of killing Sorensen occurred to Orlewicz weeks before the Nov. 7 murder, an idea that stemmed from the defendant's dislike of the victim, who allegedly owed Orlewicz $400.

Alex Mullins, a friend of Orlewicz who initially denied any involvement in the crime, said on the witness stand Tuesday in Wayne County Circuit Court he stood "lookout" outside the Canton Township garage of Orlewicz's grandfather during an aborted murder attempt the day before the actual killing.

Orlewicz is charged with first-degree murder, felony murder and mutilation of a dead body in the death of Sorensen, a 26-year-old River Rouge man who died Nov. 7. Police say Dan Sorensen was lured to the Canton Township garage of Orlewicz's grandfather, where they say the murder took place.

Sorensen's decapitated and burned body was found the next day in a Northville Township field. His head was found in the Rouge River a couple of days later.

If convicted, Orlewicz, a Canton High School senior, faces life in prison without parole.

Teen testifies

Mullins testified the death was actually supposed to take place Nov. 6, and Orlewicz asked him to be the lookout in case his (Orlewicz's) father showed up. Mullins said Orlewicz helped him cover garage windows with a "somewhat worn" tarp, and that Orlewicz covered the garage floor "with a blue tarp ... it looked new."

Under questioning from Assistant Wayne County Prosecutor Robert Moran, Mullins said he first heard Orlewicz talk about killing Sorensen "weeks earlier."

"He said he wanted to stab him ... bag him in a tarp ... and hang him upside down burning," Mullins testified. "JP told (former co-defendant Alexander Letkemann) and me that (Sorensen) owed him money and he was angry about it."

Police say Orlewicz abandoned the idea of killing Sorensen on Nov. 6 because Dan Sorensen had been dropped off by his girlfriend, who would then have been a witness to Sorensen's last whereabouts.

After the failed plan on Tuesday, Mullins said Orlewicz asked him to come back the next day (Nov. 7), but Mullins testified he decided not to.

"At first I wasn't objecting, but eventually I ... decided I didn't want to be part of it," Mullins said.

Mullins admitted on the stand Tuesday he had initially lied to police about his involvement, but told the truth when Canton police questioned him in the wake of a plea accepted by ,'s former co-defendant, Westland teenager Alexander Letkemann.

Letkemann pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and mutilation of a corpse in return for his testimony. At sentencing later this month, Letkemann is expected to be sentenced to 20-30 years on the second-degree murder and 10 years on the mutilation, with the sentences to run concurrently.

Mullins admitted Letkemann's plea was a factor in his decision to admit his involvement. He said he didn't tell the truth initially because "I was scared and didn't want to get dragged into it."

Girlfriend takes stand

Other witnesses testified about Sorensen's movements the day of his death. Girlfriend Breanna Milowe, 21, of Redford said Sorensen told her he had to "meet JP" the afternoon of Nov. 7, and arranged to see each other again later that evening when Milowe got out of class. The pair met about a month before Sorensen's death after having met using Myspace.com.

Ashleigh Scarlett, 23 of Livonia testified she and Sorensen shared some fast food at the Subway restaurant at which Scarlett worked. Scarlett testified Sorensen left shortly after 3 p.m., saying he had to "meet with JP."

She testified Sorensen told her he and "JP" were going to get $3,000 from an unidentified friend of JP's. Sorensen told Scarlett "they owed it" to them.

When asked if "JP" was in the courtroom, both Milowe and Scarlett identified Orlewicz.

The first two days of testimony saw lawyers for both sides follow the path they each mapped out in their opening statements. Moran Monday called the murder a premeditated act that was the result of a well-thought-out, deliberate plan.

Defense attorney Niskar called Sorensen's death an act of self-defense and a case of panic in its aftermath. Niskar called Orlewicz "a loving son, a loving brother, a loving friend" and said the teenager acted in self-defense after an angry Sorensen, upset that the intended victim of the extortion hadn't shown up, pulled a gun on Orlewicz.

"It was never a plan to kill (Sorensen)," Niskar told jurors. "It was a plan to extort money. (Sorensen) pulled a gun on (Orlewicz), a fight ensued and in self-defense (Sorensen) was killed."

Niskar painted the victim, Sorensen, as someone who carried a gun and a knife, and tried to "influence teenagers ... into his world of crime, into his world of drugs."

It was a tough thing for Sorensen's parents, James and Kimberly Sorensen of Westland, to hear.

"It's hard," James Sorensen admitted. "There are two sides to everything, and we just have to deal with that. We just want (the jury) to listen."

Assistant Wayne County Medical Examiner Dr. Leigh Hlavaty testified Sorensen had suffered 13 stab wounds prior to his death. Two of the wounds — one to the chest that pierced the heart and another to the upper abdomen that struck the liver — likely combined to cause Sorensen's death, she said.

She also said the lack of soot in Sorensen's airway indicated his body — 80 percent of which was badly burned — had been burned after his death.

Hlavaty also testified there were no drugs or alcohol in Sorensen's system at the time of his death.

Cops: 3rd-Graders Aimed to Hurt Teacher

WAYCROSS, Ga. (AP) — A group of third-graders plotted to attack their teacher, bringing a broken steak knife, handcuffs, duct tape and other items for the job and assigning children tasks including covering the windows and cleaning up afterward, police said Tuesday.

The plot by as many as nine boys and girls at Center Elementary School in south Georgia was a serious threat, Waycross Police Chief Tony Tanner said.

"We did not hear anybody say they intended to kill her, but could they have accidentally killed her? Absolutely," Tanner said. "We feel like if they weren't interrupted, there would have been an attempt. Would they have been successful? We don't know."

The children, ages 8 and 9, were apparently mad at the teacher because she had scolded one of them for standing on a chair, Tanner said. A prosecutor said they are too young to be charged with a crime under Georgia law.

School officials alerted police Friday after a pupil tipped off a teacher that a girl had brought a weapon to school, Tanner said.

Police seized a broken steak knife, handcuffs, duct tape, electrical and transparent tape, ribbons and a crystal paperweight from the students, who apparently intended to use them against the teacher, Tanner said.

Nine children have been given discipline up to and including long-term suspension, said Theresa Martin, spokeswoman for the Ware County school system. She would not be more specific but said none of the children had been back to school since the case came to light.

The purported target is a veteran educator who teaches third-grade students with learning disabilities including attention deficit disorder, delayed development and hyperactivity, friends and parents said.

The scheme involved a division of roles, Tanner said. One child's job was to cover windows so no one could see outside, he said. Another was supposed to clean up after the attack.

"We're not sure at this point in the investigation how many of the students actually knew the intent was to hurt the teacher," Tanner said.

The parents of the students have cooperated with investigators, who aren't allowed to question the children without their parents' or guardians' consent, he said. Authorities have withheld the children's names.

Police expected to forward the results of their investigation to prosecutors, Tanner said.

Children in Georgia can't be charged with a crime unless they are at least 13, District Attorney Rick Currie said.

Martin told The Florida Times-Union of Jacksonville, Fla., that administrators would follow school system policy and state law in disciplining the students.

"From what I understand, they were considered pretty good kids," Martin said. "But we have to take this seriously, whether they were serious or not about carrying this through, and that's what we did."

Four mothers of other third-grade students at Center Elementary called for the immediate expulsion of the suspected plotters.

Stacy Carter and Deana Hiott both cited school system policy stating that any student who brings "anything reasonably considered to be a weapon" is to be expelled for at least the remainder of the school year.

"We don't want our children around them," Carter told the Times-Union. "The one with the knife could have stabbed my child or someone else's child at lunch or out on the playground."

"This is an isolated incident, an aberration. ... We have good kids," Center Principal Angie Coleman told the newspaper

What is the problem here If kids at the age of 8-9 are so upset because one of them was scolded because he/she was standing on a chair. At that young of age the parents did something wrong what the hell will happen when they get older you tell me I would love to here your thoughts..

Mom: MySpace Hoax Led to Daughter's Suicide

DARDENNE PRAIRIE, Mo. — Megan Meier thought she had made a new friend in cyberspace when a cute teenage boy named Josh contacted her on MySpace and began exchanging messages with her. Megan, a 13-year-old who suffered from depression and attention deficit disorder, corresponded with Josh for more than a month before he abruptly ended their friendship, telling her he had heard she was cruel.

The next day Megan committed suicide. Her family learned later that Josh never actually existed; he was created by members of a neighborhood family that included a former friend of Megan's.

Now Megan's parents hope the people who made the fraudulent profile on the social networking Web site will be prosecuted, and they are seeking legal changes to safeguard children on the Internet.

The girl's mother, Tina Meier, said she doesn't think anyone involved intended for her daughter to kill herself.

"But when adults are involved and continue to screw with a 13-year- old, with or without mental problems, it is absolutely vile," she told the Suburban Journals of Greater St. Louis, which first reported on the case.

Tina Meier said law enforcement officials told her the case did not fit into any law. But sheriff's officials have not closed the case and pledged to consider new evidence if it emerges.

Megan Meier hanged herself in her bedroom on Oct. 16, 2006, and died the next day. She was described as a "bubbly, goofy" girl who loved hanging out with her friends, watching movies and fishing with her dad.

Megan had been on medication, but had been upbeat before her death, her mother said, after striking up a relationship on MySpace with Josh Evans about six weeks before her death.

Josh told her he was born in Florida and had recently moved to the nearby community of O'Fallon. He said he was homeschooled, and didn't yet have a phone number in the area to give her.

Megan's parents said she received a message from him on Oct. 15 of last year, essentially saying he didn't want to be her friend anymore, that he had heard she wasn't nice to her friends.

The next day, as Megan's mother headed out the door to take another daughter to the orthodontist, she knew Megan was upset about Internet messages. She asked Megan to log off. Users on MySpace must be at least 14, though Megan was not when she opened her account. A MySpace spokeswoman did not return calls seeking comment.

Someone using Josh's account was sending cruel messages. Then, Megan called her mother, saying electronic bulletins were being posted about her, saying things like, "Megan Meier is a slut. Megan Meier is fat."

Megan's mother, who monitored her daughter's online communications, returned home and said she was shocked at the vulgar language her own daughter was sending. She told her daughter how upset she was about it.

Megan ran upstairs, and her father, Ron, tried to tell her everything would be fine. About 20 minutes later, she was found in her bedroom. She died the next day.

Her father said he found a message the next day from Josh, which he said law enforcement authorities have not been able to retrieve. It told the girl she was a bad person and the world would be better without her, he has said.

Another parent, who learned of the MySpace account from her own daughter who had access to the Josh profile, told Megan's parents about the hoax in a counselor's office about six weeks after Megan died. That's when they learned Josh was imaginary, they said.

The woman who created the fake profile has not been charged with a crime. She allegedly told the St. Charles County Sheriff's Department she created Josh's profile because she wanted to gain Megan's confidence to know what Megan was saying about her own child online.

The mother from down the street told police that she, her daughter and another person all typed and monitored the communication between the fictitious boy and Megan.

A person who answered the door at the family's house told an Associated Press reporter on Friday afternoon that they had been advised not to comment.

Megan's parents had been storing a foosball table for the family that created the MySpace character. Six weeks after Megan's death, they learned the other family had created the profile and responded by destroying the foosball table, dumping it on the neighbors' driveway and encouraging them to move away.

Megan's parents are now separated and plan to divorce.

Aldermen in Dardenne Prairie, a community of about 7,000 residents about 35 miles from St. Louis, have proposed a new ordinance related to child endangerment and Internet harassment. It could come before city leaders on Wednesday.

"Is this enough?" Mayor Pam Fogarty said Friday. "No, not by any stretch of the imagination, but it's something, and you have to start somewhere."

U.S. flu season worsens as new vaccines ordered

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Influenza is widespread in 49 states, and this year's epidemic has killed at least 22 children, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported on Friday.

On Thursday the U.S. Food and Drug Administration agreed to completely change next year's flu vaccine mix because all three strains included in the flu shot cocktail have mutated. But companies have a head start on working with two of the three, the CDC's Dr. Nancy Cox said.

FDA advisers agreed with the World Health Organization recommendations made last week on changing the vaccine to match the drifting flu viruses.

"In brief, seasonal influenza activity has increased during the past week," Cox told reporters in a telephone briefing.

Flu has killed 22 children so far this season, Cox said. She did not have details on any of the cases.

Cox said the CDC was watching the epidemic and asking state health departments to collect data on who gets sick, whether the were vaccinated, and whether influenza drugs were effective in fighting the infections.

Several European countries have reported that people are becoming infected with strains that resist the effects of Tamiflu, the antiviral drug made by Roche AG and Gilead Sciences.

Cox said the CDC had seen little evidence that flu was resisting Tamiflu in the United States. "We have actually seen antiviral resistance only sporadically in eight states," she said.

And there are reports that some people who have become ill with confirmed flu did get vaccinated.

The flu was also found in Florida, but the CDC said it had not become widespread.

FRESH COCKTAILS

Flu vaccines contain a mixture of two influenza "A" strains, which currently are types known by the shorthand of H3N2 and H1N1, and a "B" strain. These mutate or "drift" a little each year, which is why the vaccine must be formulated freshly each season.

This happens in the late winter or early spring in each hemisphere -- February in the Northern Hemisphere and September in the Southern.

"We would say based on our laboratory data that the match is not optimal both for the H3N2 component of the vaccine and also for the influenza B component," Cox told reporters in a telephone briefing.

"In Europe they have primarily had influenza A H1N1. Data generated in Europe indicate that strains circulating there are not so well-matched with the vaccine."

The vaccines still help prevent serious disease, Cox said, even if they do not completely prevent infection.

Last year officials were already ready to change the H3N2 vaccine and labs have been working to make a type that could be easily made into vaccine, so they have a head start, Cox said.

It takes months to make a batch of vaccine. Samples of virus must be injected into carefully cultivated fertilized eggs and then grown. Some strains grow well in eggs and others do not, so it is months before companies know how much vaccine they will have to sell for the upcoming season.

Five companies make flu vaccine for the U.S. market -- Sanofi Pasteur, Australia's CSL Ltd, GlaxoSmithKline Plc, Novartis AG and nasal spray maker MedImmune, recently acquired by AstraZeneca Plc.

Next week the CDC's Advisory Committee on Vaccine Practices will meet and discuss whether to expand recommendations for who gets influenza vaccine. Currently the vaccine is advised for all children between 6 months and 5 years old, people over 50, those with chronic illnesses and pregnant women.

N.C. Mom Busts Negligent Babysitter On Nanny Cam

N.C. Mom Busts Negligent Babysitter On Nanny Cam

Mom Fired Nanny On The Spot

NEW YORK (CBS News) ― Earlier this month, Lindsay Addison, of North Carolina, had to leave her twin boys, 7-month-old Bryce and Gavin, at home to head back to work after maternity leave.

At the office Addison accessed her new nanny cam on her computer and started to see things she didn't like.

There was the nanny, a woman who came with glowing references and who had professed love for the boys, handling the twins like rag dolls.

"I'm screaming there at my desk, 'pick him up, pick him up,' and she proceeds to look at him and continue on doing whatever she was doing," Addison said.

That went on for six minutes, Addison said. She then rushed home and fired the nanny on the spot.

"She couldn't get out of the house fast enough," Addison said.

Unfortunately for Addison, the mistreatment was not just an isolated incident.

On the nanny-cam video, the nanny is seen repeatedly mishandling the boys. In one segment, one of the boys rolls between couch cushions while the nanny uses the TV remote.

Based on the video, Addison found that time after time, the nanny picked up the boys by one arm, by their clothing, and even dangled one child by his foot.

For Addison, the nanny cam was the best $300 she ever invested.

"I probably never would have suspected, never would have known, and she would still be here had I not had the camera. And it scares me to think what could have happened to my children," she said.

U of C "nanovalve" discovery could be used to cut greenhouse gas emissions

CALGARY - Researchers at the University of Calgary say they have found a new way to trap and store gasses in molecule-sized tanks - a discovery that businesses could use to deal with their greenhouse gas emissions.

"This is fundamentally a different way of storing any gas," chemistry professor George Shimizu said in an interview.

Right now, gas storage can be tricky and pose safety risks because it needs to be kept at very high pressures, said Shimizu, who along with fellow researchers David Crab and Brett Chandler announced the discovery Friday.

But the scientists have invented a crystal structure that can store gas molecules indefinitely without the need for pressure using "molecular nanovalves." On top of that the gas can be released easily.

"If it was a static structure with pores, the gas could really just flow in and out. But it's the fact that the structure shifts and traps the gas that's really intriguing," Shimizu said.

Right now gas can be stored by chemically bonding the molecules to a surface, which makes it hard to access. Alternatively, gas can be absorbed onto a surface, but it doesn't usually stick very well.

"In this case it's neither of those. It's a mechanical trapping where we're forming a molecular cage around the gas. So the gas is stuck in there for a few hundred degrees, but you can access the gas at room temperature just by adding a little bit of water," Shimizu explained.

The research, published Friday in the journal "Nature Materials," could have a number of applications.

"From a commercial standpoint, anything that you'd want to store in a cylinder can be stored at lower pressure in this material," Shimizu said.

"One of the gasses that is stored efficiently in this material is carbon dioxide."

That could include carbon capture and storage, a technology touted by the Alberta government as a good way to cut the massive greenhouse gas emissions belched out by the energy sector.

A provincial-federal task force, chaired by TransAlta Corp. (TSX:TA) CEO Steve Snyder, said Thursday the government should shell out $2 billion to develop carbon capture technology. The process involves capturing the carbon dioxide emissions, compressing them and pumping them underground.

Critics have slammed that plan as too expensive and risky. Some environmentalists say it does nothing to address the crux of the climate change issue: the world's dependence on fossil fuels.

But TransAlta and a number of other energy companies have been trying hard to advance it.

"I believe it's something that needs to be done. The technology is available. It needs to be put into full-scale use," Snyder said Friday in a conference call to discuss his company's fourth-quarter earnings.

The University of Calgary discovery could serve another environmentally friendly purpose: the development of hydrogen fuel cells.

"The gas that globally would be of most interest would be hydrogen. If you ever plan on using hydrogen to power mobile vehicles, you need a way to store hydrogen on board," Shimizu said.

Reporter Claims to Crack Natalee Holloway Case

Aruba Reopens Investigation Into Teen's Disappearance

After a Dutch journalist declared that his private investigation had solved the mysterious disappearance of American teenager Natalee Holloway, the chief prosecutor in Aruba announced today that he is reopening the case.

Reporter Peter R. de Vries said he used a sophisticated network of hidden cameras in what he called an "undercover operation" to obtain evidence that he claimed "has solved the mystery" of Holloway's disappearance on May 30, 2005.

The mystery behind the disappearance of the blond teenager has eluded efforts by the Aruba police and even the FBI for more than two years.

ABC News will air a 90-minute special edition of "20/20: The Final Hours of Natalee Holloway" on Monday, Feb. 4, at 9:30 p.m. ET

De Vries said he showed some of the key pieces of evidence to the Office of the Public Prosecutor of Aruba, Jan. 24, and the island's chief prosecutor, Hans Mos, announced today that he has "intensified [the] investigation of Natalee Holloway due to recently received information."

Mos had publicly closed the investigation last month after an exhausting and often frustrating two-year probe.

"This information may shed a new light on the mode of which Natalee Holloway has died and the method by which her body disappeared," Mos said today.

He credited de Vries with uncovering the leads and said, "This information may help considerably in the solution of the mystery of Natalee's disappearance."

De Vries said that he and his team had been conducting an undercover operation for several months, and that he would broadcast his findings in a special program on Dutch television this Sunday.

The only piece of the upcoming program the de Vries would release was a conversation between himself and Mos after he showed police the evidence he had collected. "Am I sitting opposite a happy man now?" de Vries asks Mos. The prosecutor is shown answering, "Now at least the truth is surfacing and with that we can at least wrap up this case."

The Alabama teenager disappeared after a boozy night in an Aruban nightclub during a high school graduation trip. She was last seen outside Carols 'n Charlies bar with Joran van der Sloot, who is from Holland, and the brothers Deepak and Satish Kalpoe, from Aruba. They have twice been arrested, denied any involvement in her disappearance, and released due to lack of evidence.

After his latest release, Van der Sloot did a television interview with de Vries earlier this month where the reporter challenged his honesty. Van der Sloot was calm during the interview, but after the cameras were turned off he threw a glass of wine in de Vries' face.

The incident prompted de Vries to comment, "He doesn't have complete control over his behavior."

Bills' Everett says he's accepted invite to attend Super Bowl

"Yeah, I am going to be going to the Super Bowl and sitting with the commissioner," Everett told Houston's KRIV-TV for a story on its Web site Thursday. "I think it's pretty cool, you know, just go and hang out with the commissioner. He's the head man in charge of the whole NFL ... that's kind of a big deal right there."

Everett, who lives in Houston and has been rehabilitating there, has had a remarkable recovery in the months since suffering the injury while making a tackle in Buffalo's season-opening game Sept. 9 against the Broncos.

Everett was paralyzed from the neck down when he arrived at Buffalo's Millard Fillmore Gates Hospital and spent the first few days on life support. He underwent four hours of surgery as a team of doctors realigned his neck and stabilized it with screws, rods and a titanium plate. Doctors initially feared Everett would never walk again.

Goodell flew to Buffalo to visit with Everett shortly after his injury.

"Oh man, I've come a hundred miles compared to where I am today," Everett told KRIV. "I started out not being able to move anything to walking. I've come a long way, man."

At an appearance in early January at a high school football banquet in his hometown of Port Arthur, Texas, Everett showed little indication of his injury. He discussed his injury and recovery on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" on Thursday, where former Bronco Domenik Hixon also appeared via satellite from Arizona, site of the Super Bowl. Hixon is now a member of the New York Giants.

KRIV also reported Everett was invited to attend President Bush's State of the Union Address on Monday, but that the player had to decline because of prior commitments.

"I thought it was great that they invited me to that," Everett told the station. "It was kind of impressive and all. I was like kind of surprised at the whole deal and everything."

Packers rally past Seahawks in snowy Green Bay

GREEN BAY (Reuters) - The Green Bay Packers overcame a disastrous start to rally past the Seattle Seahawks 42-20 in a driving snowstorm on Saturday, advancing to the NFC Championship Game for the first time since the 1997 season.

Playing in rapidly deteriorating conditions, veteran Green Bay quarterback Brett Favre and running back Ryan Grant led the way in a dominating offensive performance by the home team.

Green Bay fell 14-0 behind on two early touchdowns after a pair of fumbles by Grant but steadied quickly and grabbed the lead for good early in the second quarter after touchdowns on four successive possessions.

Green Bay will next play the winner of Sunday's Dallas Cowboys-New York Giants game for the right to advance to the Super Bowl in Arizona on February 3.
